A YORK library has launched a new young people's initiative to pioneer an alternative side to libraries.
New Earswick Library formed The Venue, an initiative aimed at young people aged 13 and over, to improve relationships with children and young people.
Senior library assistant Joy Cann, said when the library staff first arrived, there had been young people "hanging around" outside and problems with crime.
In response, The Venue aims to provide something new and exciting for young people to do, including monthly workshops and projects for all age ranges.
Almost 50 children attended The Venue's launch last week to enjoy a free barbecue, face-painting, body art, badge-making and other craft activities.
If you are 13 or over, and live in the New Earswick area, visit the library or phone 01904 761757 for details.
