FAR too frequently we read of accidents on the A19, and as someone who uses it from York to Thirsk, I can only wonder why there are not more, the way some people drive.
Some of us travel at the speed limit only to have vans very close behind wanting to get past.
Last week, I was travelling at 40mph when a lorry came out from a side road at a hill-top forcing me to stop, then it broke the speed limit getting to Thirsk.
The previous week, driving the other way, we were approached by a lorry in the other lane.
As we were about to pass, a car behind it had to overtake, then another car followed making me pull hard over on to the roadside.
If I had panicked the outcome would have been different.
