IRENE Douglass suggests a Politeness Week for York (Letters, July 3).
I'm all for it. As a postmistress, I have, during the last week, had a customer who answered their mobile phone at the counter and then proceeded to hold a conversation during the rest of the transaction, virtually ignoring me. Another customer read his newspaper as I served him.
Shop assistants have feelings too!
