THE packaging is disappointing, considering David Coverdale is renowned for his... ahem... package.
The sleeve notes could have been written by any fan with half a brain, a disappointing read from Malcolm Dome, of TotalRock Radio, and not one measly picture! The high point is Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City (David Coverdale does pain so plaintively), but where's Ain't Gonna Cry No More Today, Need Your Love So Bad and Cryin' In The Rain, when there's room for the sickly sweet sentiment of The Deeper The Love? The ballads are set off well by a good smattering of earlier, rockier tracks such as Love Ain't No Stranger and Ready An' Willing, but where's the real sleaze of Slide It In? Where's Trouble? Where's Saints & Sinners? Where's Restless Heart? There's nothing from Northwinds and the original Whitesnake album. Last year's double album covered far more ground.
