YORK pensioners Bill and Margaret Brown had difficulty understanding Department for Work and pension forms - as they had been sent to them in Welsh.

Mr and Mrs Brown, of Huntington, had filled in a form at their post office, asking to retain their pension there when benefits are transferred into bank accounts.

But a cross was mistakenly placed in a box offering to send the information written in the Welsh language.

Mr Brown thought by putting a cross in the box, it would ensure he would not receive the Welsh forms.

Seeing the funny side, Mr Brown, 69, said: "The form seemed a bit misleading. We thought we were the only ones to have received Welsh forms, but the Post Office said we were the second people it had happened to.

"I've got nothing against the Welsh, but I can't read the language."

Mr Brown has now sent the forms back and is awaiting replacement ones - in English.
