TALENTED dancers from a York dancing school have found success with several prestigious schools.
Poppy Salenius, 10, Rye Carpenter, 11, and Rebecca Goodhall, 16, who all dance with the Huntington-based Rebecca Davies School of Dancing, will begin new ventures in September.
Poppy, of Heworth, will travel to Leeds for a dance lesson each week as a junior associate of the Royal Ballet School. She also won an award as most promising under-12 at the recent Cleethorpes Dance Festival.
Rye, of Tadcaster Road, has won a five-year scholarship to The Hammond School, a boarding school at Chester, where she will study dance alongside academic subjects. She has also been awarded a place at the Royal Ballet Summer School.
Rebecca, of Heworth, will embark on a three-year spell at The Merseyside School of Dance and Drama.
Dance teacher Rebecca Davies, said she was delighted with the girls' achievements. She said: "I'm incredibly proud. It's amazing really."
