MORE than 500 schoolchildren will gather tomorrow for a special engineering event taking place at the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington, near York.
Engineering Inspirations will include more than 60 displays from secondary school pupils from across the region.
On show will be designs and prototypes representing all forms of engineering including a wine cooler, robotic fighting machine and a hovercraft.
Awards will be given for best investigative project, most innovative project and most effective engineering solution.
The highlight will be the judging of the Yorkshire heat of the Young Engineers for Britain competition.
There will also be work developed by students from 17 primary schools.
The first vice-minister at the ministry of education at the Russian Federation, Dr Victor Bolotov, will be visiting the event as part of design and technology work he is undertaking at the University of York.
The day has been organised by the North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership and the main sponsor is the Yorkshire Air Museum.
Partnership adviser at NYBEP June Windross said: "The event provides a fantastic opportunity for engineers of the future to showcase their work and be inspired by engineers from the business world"
