TO justify its war on Iraq, which has killed and maimed thousands of Iraqi soldiers and civilians, the Labour Government relied on two intelligence dossiers which we now know to be works of pure fiction.

The claim was made by Tony Blair that chemical and biological weapons could be launched within 45 minutes, and that there were extensive stocks of these weapons.

If this were true it is strange that none has been found yet.

It was claimed Iraq posed a clear and present danger to Britons in Cyprus. But Iraq never had any long-range delivery systems.

It was claimed Iraq had a nuclear weapons program, with import of nuclear material from Niger. This was a fiction based on forged documents.

It is time for a judicial inquiry with legal powers to seize documents and interrogate those responsible for this fiction, namely Tony Blair and Alastair Campbell, who enabled and promoted the Iraq war.

Because this was an illegal war of aggression, held without UN sanction, the best place to send these two is the International Criminal Court in the Hague for war crimes.
