THE devastated parents of a Selby woman have spoken of their grief over her "senseless" death in a car accident.
Karen and Alan Tate, of Broadmanor, North Duffield, say their 21-year-old daughter, Nadine, was a "responsible, mature young woman" who was "a friend to everyone".
She had only recently returned from a holiday with friends in Benidorm when her white Fiat Punto was in collision with a lorry as she travelled along the A163 Market Weighton road towards Selby on Friday
morning.
She was on her way to collect her holiday photographs before starting her shift as assistant manager for Claire's Accessories at the McArthur Glen shopping outlet on the outskirts of York.
Karen, a housewife, told the Evening Press that the family, including Nadine's 18-year-old brother, Nathan, were struggling to find a reason for the tragedy.
"She wasn't a drink-driver or a racer.
"She had left in plenty of time to get to work. It seems to be such an unfortunate accident."
Nadine grew up in North Duffield and attended the village primary school before going on to Barlby High School.
She graduated from York College last summer with an HNC in business, and worked at various shops at the McArthur Glen during her studies before taking the post of assistant manager ten months ago.
Alan, an engineer, said: "The amount of cards we have been given is unbelievable. The whole family would like to thank everyone for their kindness."
The funeral service at York Crematorium tomorrow, at 3pm, will be conducted by the Rev Francis Loftus, Nadine's former headmaster.
