ENVIRONMENT Agency staff are hoping for "stunning" results from a summer survey of North Yorkshire's fish.
Specially-trained agency officers will be using electro-fishing techniques to stun the fish, then count and measure them before putting them back in the water.
The technique works by passing an electrical current through the water, which temporarily knocks the fish out.
A small number of scales will be removed from each fish to check age and growth rates.
Most species will be surveyed, including salmon, trout, grayling and pike, from rivers including the Ouse, Derwent and Tees.
