DETECTIVES were today trawling a York road for clues one week after masked gunmen burst into a nearby farmhouse, terrorised a family and shot a 41-year-old man.
The 16-man police team investigating the shooting at Drome Farm, Elvington, was quizzing residents, and stopping motorists on the B1228 south of Grimston Bar.
Officers say they are making steady progress, but stress that just one "snippet" of information could prove vital to the case.
DCI Alan Carey said: "We're putting a lot of resources and effort into solving a violent and frightening crime. We're not used to gun play in North Yorkshire and we will not tolerate it.
"We're making steady progress with this investigation, but we need the kind of lead that can come from just one piece of information, the kind of snippet that makes everything else fall in place."
Anyone with information can contact York CID on 01904 669353, or Crimestoppers, for free and in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
Detectives would like to speak to guests at a retirement party, held that night at the Yorkshire Air Museum who may have seen a vehicle, possibly a car or light van, leaving Drome Farm.
DCI Carey said: "My concern is that guests at the party may have come from outside North Yorkshire, so they may not be aware of the widespread coverage this crime has received."
