The York and Senior League's attempt to lift the Yorkshire Senior Leagues KO Trophy for the first time ended in disappointment when they were well beaten by their South Yorkshire counterparts at Treeton.
York were led by Harwood Williams in the absence of Dunnington team-mate Collis King, who was unavailable for family reasons.
The York side made a tremendous start when they claimed three wickets in four balls to reduce the hosts to 14-3.
Dave Sykes had Whitley Hall's Jason Booth caught by Paul Miles, who then helped Barry Petty dismiss Danny Kemp off the first ball of the next over. Petty followed up to remove Jason Meadows with the next ball as Paul Wright held the catch.
Tim Farmer and Glen Yates put on 43 before Petty had a third success when he trapped the former in front for 30.
Osbaldwick's teenage paceman Chrs Oldfield clean bowled ex-Yorkshire and Northamptonshire player Lesroy Weekes for 12 and quickly followed with Yates' wicket to reduce the hosts to 90-6.
However, the York bowlers were unable to press home the advantage as Mo Raza and James Tasker took the score to 146. But they were parted when Paul Wright bowled Raza for 23. Tasker was able to move on to an unbeaten 42, before his side were all out for 172 as Dave Sykes returned to the attack to claim two more wickets.
York's reply started disastrously as Hamid Khan fell for a duck to Weekes' second delivery. The former West Indies 'A' bowler then accounted for fellow opener Wright with only 17 on the board.
Harwood Williams and Dave Greenlay made slow progress as they rebuilt the innings, but York's stand-in skipper was removed by Andy Harrison for 24 and Greenlay soon followed to Yates for 18.
Mike Burdett persished to spinner Tasker when an attempted sweep gave keeper Phil Chapman an easy catch and Yates soon had Paul Miles lbw. Andy Tute made a studious 20 but was bowled by Tasker, whose 4-21 soon had the York side all out for 109.
