CLASSIC vehicles of road and rail will be combining for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway's annual Vintage And Classic Vehicle Weekend.

The Pickering-based railway will host a vast array of road vehicles of all ages and types in displays at three of its four main stations this weekend.

With both steam and diesel locomotives in action on the trains linking the displays, it promises to be a memorable feast of entertainment for any lovers of classic transport.

Highlights of the line-up include a gathering of very rare Allard cars at Grosmont Station, near Whitby, on Sunday.

Cars from the former Yorkshire manufacturer, Jowett, will also be present, as well as a wide range of Motorcycles of various ages, including a sizeable contingent of Vincents.

The oldest vehicle attending will to be the very first Morris car, the 1913 Bullnose prototype, which started the manufacturing history of this classic British marque.

The biggest internal combustion engine to be in action over the weekend will be the Sulzer diesel of Class 24 railway locomotive D5061, in action on the Saturday.

Services run hourly from Pickering between 10.20am and 5.20pm and from Grosmont between 09.50am and 4.50pm each day, and normal ticket prices apply.
