RESIDENTS of an East Yorkshire town took a closer look at their town's regeneration schemes at an open evening.
The Weighton Area Regeneration Partnership (WARP) held the event at the Methodist Church Hall to bring the townspeople up to date on their activities. These include a Market Square Scheme, a visitor strategy, a small grants scheme and the launch of the Market Weighton, heart of East Yorkshire, brand.
Chairman of WARP, Coun Andy Burton said: "With the town being funded through the Yorkshire Forward Market Towns Initiative program, expectations of residents of Market Weighton have been raised regarding how their town is going to be improved."
Peter Hemmerman, vice-chair of WARP and chair of the chamber of trade, said: "While we have been incredibly busy over the last year, many of the projects have not been particularly visual in their appearance. However, with the substantial Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme now on line as well as the development of the Market Site Car Park, WARP and its key partners such as the town council and chamber of trade will have something visual to show for their success between now and next year."
