TWO wheels are to help fund four rotors after Sherburn-in-Elmet gala committee donated a bicycle to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The bicycle was originally purchased by members of the committee for the raffle at the annual village gala, but the winner decided to donate it back to them. Alma Hodgson, chairwoman, said: "The lady felt that her son was too young to use the bike and that it would be out of condition by the time he was old enough. She gave it back to us and then we decided to donate it to the air ambulance so they could raise funds."
Mrs Hodgson said the air ambulance was the favoured cause of the committee members because it was a service they might need themselves at some point. "It is an important thing for Yorkshire to have," she said.
The bicycle was collected by Yorkshire Air Ambulance fundraiser Sally Cater who said she and her colleagues would be raffling it off in the near future.
