A 35-YEAR-OLD man has denied snatching an excavating tractor, driving it dangerously on the A19 at Barlby and using it to endanger five police officers' lives.
Ian Robert Leaper, of George Terrace, Barlby, pleaded not guilty to one charge of aggravated taking of a vehicle without the owner's consent, one of dangerous driving on the A19, three of criminal damage with intent to endanger life and three alternative charges of criminal damage, being reckless as to whether lives were endangered.
York Crown Court heard that Leaper allegedly endangered the lives of police officers Cheryl Moore, Stuart Davies, Philip Mincher, Karl Simpson and Karen Taylor on March 23.
He was remanded in custody. His trial will be at a date to be arranged.
