YORK had a convincing win in the final of the York and District Junior Cricket Association Costcutter Under-13 Cup, beating Heworth by 78 runs.
The York innings started slowly against some good bowling from Rich Walton, whose four-over spell cost only eight runs.
After seven overs the young Clifton Parkers had just 15 runs on the board but the York batsmen then took over as George Featherstone (31), Luke Wilson (33) and Mathew Wilks (30) led them to 129-1.
That was a score Heworth never looked like getting as the York bowlers gave little away. Louie Baig taking 2-8 as Heworth could only make 51-5 as York retained the trophy with an easy victory.
In the second semi-final of the President's Under-15 Cup, Dunnington's batsmen were again in great form.
Jack Bolam hit an undefeated 107 and fellow opener A Gowthorpe hit 77no as the pair rattled up 188-0 in 20 overs.
It was a huge target and proved too much for Woodhouse Grange, who replied with 113-5.
Dunnington will now meet Heworth in the final on Monday, July 14, 6.15pm at Clifton Alliance's ground.
- SHERIFF Hutton Bridge entertain Hooton Pagnell on Sunday (2pm) for a place in the last sixteen of the National Village Championship.
York and District Senior League side Bridge won the North Yorkshire (South) section, while Hooton Pagnell won the South Yorkshire and Humberside section. Tomorrow's winners will have home advantage against either Freuchie, from Fife, or Warkworth (Northumberland).
