ORGANISERS expect a record turnout of more than 7,000 visitors at the University of York's open day on Monday.
The university is warning of heavy traffic on the day and queues are expected to form in Field Lane and in Heslington village.
Organisers believe the numbers reflect the buoyant demand for places at the university, which is now ranked first for teaching quality in the UK university system.
"While we're delighted so many people want to find out about the university and the city of York, the traffic might be reminiscent of a race day," said organiser Connie Cullen.
