THE Hunters York and District Senior League face a stiff task in the semi-final of the Costcutter York Senior Leagues' Knock-Out Competition when they tackle their South Yorkshire counterparts at Treeton.
The York side, who defeated the holders, the ECB Yorkshire County Premier League, in the previous round will again be captained by former West Indian Test star Collis King, who will have five of his current Dunnington team-mates in his team.
All-rounder Dave Greenlay has been added to the 11 that won their first round tie. Hamid Khan will open the batting alongside Carlton Towers' Paul Wright. Dunnington also provide batsman Harwood Williams, wicketkeeper Paul Miles and spinner Steve Precious.
The attack will be led jointly by Acomb's Dave Sykes and the reliable Barry Petty, the Thirsk skipper. Sykes' team-mate Andy Tute will bat in the middle order and provide bowling support if required.
Woodhouse Grange's Mike Burdett will be hoping to follow his fine innings in the previous round with another match-winning performance. The squad is completed by Osbaldwick youngster Chris Oldfield.
The South Yorkshire side, which is under the captaincy of Andy Harrison (Wickersley), will provide stiff opposition. Top players include Treeton's Steve Foster, John Tasker of Sheffield Collegiate and Whitley Hall's Jason Booth.
The home side's attack will be led by Lesroy Weekes who has played first class cricket for Leeward Islands, Yorkshire and Northamptonshire with best bowling figures of 6-56 for Yorkshire v West Indies in 2000.
