MALTON and Norton member Jackie Roberts has been crowned York ladies Amateur Champion.
The ten-handicapper triumphed at Heworth with a gross score of 78.
She held off the challenge of club-mate Judy Butler (8) and home player Carol Simpson, who had scores of 81.
There was a clear winner in the silver division with Heworth's Pat Boden (19) taking the title with a score of 70. Maureen Turnbull (12) took second place on countback over the last nine holes by squeezing Simpson out of the prizes.
The bronze division was held at Fulford and the trophy went to Caroline Newland, of Easingwold, with a nett 68 - one shot clear of three players - Sue Milner (York), Jeanette Shearer (The Oaks) and Liz Robinson (Easingwold), all on 69.
Val Savory (Heworth) 70 and Eileen Carter 71 took fifth and sixth places.
