REDHEAD Theatre Company, from York, is travelling north to the Edinburgh Fringe next month.
The University of York student company will stage This Is Us at the Bedlam Theatre from August 11 to 23 at 3.30pm daily, except August 17.
First performed on campus in February 2002, the Redhead show was commended by the National Student Drama Festival selectors for its fractured style, striking lighting and original score.
Written and directed by student by Clare Slater, This Is Us reconstructs interviews with 20 people, creating six disparate characters who explore every element of life at 20.
"From recollections of childhood to views on the afterlife, via love, self-image, beauty and more, this play asks questions we don't normally choose to answer," says Clare.
This Is Us originally was presented as an all-female play, looking at feminine attitudes towards life. "In response to that production, it's been reinvented to include men in the equation," says Clare. "Now it reveals how surprisingly similar the sexes are."
