RESCUED orphan Annie is just one of many kittens hoping to find a new home at an open day to be run by York Cats Protection.
Three-month-old Annie was found, covered in spaghetti bolognese, after being dumped in a wheelie bin.
Shelter manager James Hodgkinson, said: "Poor Annie was in a real mess when she came in. She's a lively thing now though, and we hope to get her a home soon."
The shelter also has many adult cats still waiting for homes.
Mr Hodgkinson said: "We have a lot of lovely cats here aged between four and seven years old. Their personalities are already established and they often find it easier than kittens to settle into the rigours of family life."
The open day will be held from 1pm to 4pm tomorrow, at 582 Huntington Road, York.
Visitors can talk about re-homing a cat and enjoy a tombola, cake stall and bric-a-brac sale. Admission is £1.50, inclusive of refreshments.
Anyone interested in adopting Annie should phone the shelter on 01904 760356.
