LISTENING to this album right through is like eating too much fudge. The first few mouthfuls are delicious and you wish the taste would last for ever.
But before long, you feel sick and the thought of another bite fills you with dread. It has something to do the sameness of Rooney's songs, so play the album but sparingly. This is certainly the right season to listen to the Los Angeles five-piece. Their songs are happy and summery in the vein of Weezer and The Beach Boys. Early Travis sound-alike Blue Side is a great opener with delicious harmonies and some great guitar, while Terrible Person is an entertaining tale of a guy who reads his girlfriend's secret diary and then tells all his mates what's in it. It's not rocket science but fun nonetheless. Losing All Control is the only hint of a darker edge, but even then they can't resist a catchy chorus.
