ENVIRONMENTALLY-friendly youngsters from a York school have been doing their bit to help encourage people to ditch the car.
Pupils from The Mount School and Tregelles have been promoting green travel to their parents, teachers and classmates through a school travel club.
The club has been meeting all year to look at putting together a school travel plan and is now trying to encourage people to car share using the recently launched city-wide website www.carshareyork.com
City of York Council has given support to the travel plan as part of its long-term initiative to promote walking, cycling and public transport use for travel to school. Pupils who live locally are being encouraged to walk, or cycle to school and the club also holds information on local bus timetables.
