I READ with interest about the new recycle bins destroyed at Safeway (June 25). We have been given plastic boxes and collection bags with a note saying place outside by 7am on day of collection. I didn't retire to have to get up by 7am to put out bins or recycle goods.
What happens is that people will put these bins etc out the evening before and the recycle boxes will be wet through in the snow and rain.
The louts who walk about at night will probably throw things all over them.
Leeds has been recycling for some years. They have a green wheelie bin and a brown wheelie bin which residents place outside on the dates given to them. They have lids and won't be wet through. Come on City of York Council, think again.
