A RAINBOW of colour was released into the York sky at the start of a £25,000 fundraising campaign to ensure the safety of young people across North Yorkshire.
A video is to be produced by Caroline's Rainbow Foundation - a charity launched after the tragic death of York teenager Caroline Stuttle - to spread the safety message to young people thinking of travelling abroad in their gap year.
Former Huntington School pupil Caroline, 19, was robbed and killed in Bundaberg, Australia, while she was travelling after studying for her A-levels.
Balloons were released from Coppergate, York, by Sarah Holiday, Caroline's best friend and traveling companion, Caroline's mother Marjorie Stuttle and another friend, Ben Fogarty. Marjorie said: "We have had a lot of support and we just want people across North Yorkshire to get involved."
