BACK by popular demand, the York Railway Institute Band will again play at the Castle Howard Arboretum Trust on Saturday.
The Arboretum is a fine setting for a picnic concert for the whole family to enjoy the magnificent sounds of the band, as it plays music from Handel to the Carpenters, the Barber Of Seville to Yellow Submarine.
Derek Warley, conductor and leader of the York Railway Institute Band, visited and discovered the natural amphitheatre at the Arboretum.
He invited his friend, Arthur P Barnes, Professor Emeritus of Music, Stanford University, California, to try the acoustics. Professor Barnes declared it to be a perfect natural amphitheatre.
Tickets are on sale now, priced at £12 for adults and £6 for children, available from the Arboretum on 01653 648650. This early evening concert begins at 5.30pm and will end about 8.30pm. The audience is invited to the Arboretum from 4pm in order to enjoy a picnic in the beautiful surroundings.
Owners are welcome to bring their dogs - so long as their pets do not try to sing along to the music.
