CHARLIE Croft's bizarre admission (Evening Press, June 25) that "some people may have misunderstood the words an officer spoke" at the meeting about the proposed relocation of York City FC to Huntington Stadium, and his belief that the officer's notes are open to "misinterpretation", will leave City fans more confused, angry, and frustrated than ever.
He may have found his colleague's ambiguity glorious; we find it insulting.
The meeting was not a policy meeting of the council, but the other participants were surely entitled to believe that an officer of the council was there to speak for the council. If not, why on earth was she or he there at all?
It's clear that along with Bootham Crescent Holdings and York-based house builder Persimmon, City of York Council's ruling group doesn't much care whether or not York City survives.
These three parties have it in their power to secure York City's future at Bootham Crescent. If they won't do it willingly, maybe it's time for City fans to show their collective muscle again and knock these three heads together.
