FROM your report (Evening Press, June 27) on the debate 'What makes York special?', I am led to infer that what makes York special for Roy Templeman, in his veiled threat regarding a possible outcome over the Coppergate II development inquiry, are certain retailers.
Will Mr Templeman inform the citizens of York, of which I do not believe he is one, what retailers these are? Then we can all boycott them until they disappear of their own accord.
Unfortunately, work prevented my attendance at the debate; but in my own case, it is York's great heritage set within a limited scale that makes this city special - not access to what is becoming a rather bog-standard set of shops that can be found from Land's End to John O'Groats in any medium size town.
