ASTROLOGER Jonathan Cainer is at loggerheads with planners over a scheme they say could damage the character of one of York's historic shopping streets.
Mr Cainer wants to install air- conditioning units at his shop, a listed building in Stonegate.
But he is likely to have the scheme rejected by councillors - a decision he says could delay the opening of his new paranormal museum.
Mr Cainer, who lives near Easingwold, plans to open the Museum of Psychic Experience above the shop with his friend and paranormalist Uri Geller.
The air-conditioning, together with separate plans to install triple-glazed windows in the shop, is to block out the sound of the Minster bells while providing a comfortable atmosphere.
Councillors will decide at a meeting on Thursday whether to allow the two air-conditioning units to be installed on the shop's balcony.
A report to councillors recommends the plans be refused
Mr Cainer, speaking from Glastonbury Festival today, said: "I think they are being a bit precious.
"If it is refused we will either have to go away and think again or appeal. Either way will take time."
