EDUCATION provision in York is to be shaped with a five-year plan drawn up by City of York Council.
The plan will show how the LEA will provide education in York and will include information on the expected number of pupils in the city's schools and the number of school places available.
The assistant director of education at the City of York Council, Kevin Hall, said: "The key purpose of the School Organisation Plan is to help schools, parents, and local communities to understand what school places are needed now and in the future and how we propose to meet those needs."
Later this summer, the council will begin an 11-week public consultation process to determine the content of the plan. Notices on how to take part will appear in the Evening Press, libraries and other public locations.
Once a draft of the plan has been considered by the committee it will be issued for public consultation at the end of July. The responses will then be considered by the School Organisation Committee.
