COUNCIL chiefs have installed extra seating in a new bus shelter in Tadcaster after complaints that passengers were getting soaked when it rained.
North Yorkshire County Council also repaired the shelter's leaking roof - just in time for the revamped bus station's official opening.
Tadcaster town councillor Jean Ashton said the bus shelter - part of a £200,000 refurbishment of the Britannia car park - was about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. But she declared she was "hopeful" the problems had been solved when she attended the official opening ceremony.
The new-look bus station was opened by Coun John Fort, North Yorkshire executive member for environmental services.
The development has now been handed over to Selby District Council who helped pay for it.
