POCKLINGTON businesses were preparing to get into the fast lane at a special exhibition on broadband.
Residents and businesses flocked to Woldgate School, Pocklington, to learn all about this high-speed internet service, which is coming to the town on August 6.
Guests at the exhibition included town mayor George McManus and local MP Greg Knight. They saw demonstrations of how the high-tech service could help computer users at home or in business.
Coun McManus said: "It was terrific. There was definitely a great mood of optimism at the exhibition."
He said that the day was very well attended by people from Pocklington, Barmby Moor and Wilberfoss.
The Pocklington and Wolds Gateway Project, a partnership of local residents, businesses and councillors, campaigned for six months to bring broadband, which allows computer users to use the telephone while surfing the net, to the town.
The partnership is now working to achieve broadband access for Stamford Bridge, Wilberfoss and surrounding villages.
