In the on-going debate about who said what to whom in the discussions about the fate of the athletics track at Huntingdon Stadium, one alternative does not seem to have been mentioned.
Has it ever been considered to approach the university, to "develop" athletics facilities at Heslington?
The costs could be shared, and, being an educational establishment, wouldn't there be more grants available? Access could be shared between athletics clubs and the University.
Wouldn't the university be ideal for such event? The campus could provide accommodation for athletes and officials.
Interested parties should not be part of the blame culture, they should be proactive and look at what can be done to provide the area with world-class athletics facilities and, in the process, help preserve league football in this city.
