A GERMAN tourist who left her luggage outside as she waited for an early morning taxi in York today discovered that her suitcase had been stolen.
The blue case, which contained clothes, presents and a box of Yorkshire Tea, was stolen from East Parade, Heworth, at 3am today. It was valued at £400.
Meanwhile, computer equipment and DVDs were stolen from a house in Seventh Avenue, Tang Hall, while the four occupants slept upstairs.
The break-in happened sometime on Thursday night or Friday morning.
Thieves took advantage of an unlocked front door to steal a PlayStation and cash from a house in Lansdowne Terrace, York, overnight on Thursday.
And in a separate incident a man returned to his home at 10am yesterday to discover thieves had broken in.
The burglary happened at Sandringham Street, off Fishergate, and a sports bag, DVDs, a mini disc player and CDs were stolen.
Thieves also forced the hinges on a back kitchen window to steal a laptop computer and a mobile phone camera attachment from a house in Haxby Road some time between 10pm on Friday and 12.15am today.
Police in Tadcaster are looking for the owner of a stolen garden ornament which was discovered by officers last Monday, June 23.
PC 692 Neil Himsworth is appealing for the owner of the two-piece stone woman, which stands between three and four feet high, to contact him on 01904 631321.
