A WOMAN was taken to hospital after a three-vehicle collision near Full Sutton Prison, near York.
The accident, involving a white Ford Transit van, a Vauxhall Carlton and a low-loader lorry pulling a trailer with a car, happened on the Full Sutton to Fangfoss Road behind the prison at 1.30pm yesterday. The female occupant of the car was trapped and had to be released by firefighters using hydraulic cutting equipment.
The 43-year-old woman was taken to York Hospital with a painful side and an ankle injury. No one else was injured.
There were two further accidents on the A64 close to York last night, as heavy downpours hit the area.
Four people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a two-car collision on the A64 near the turn-off for Stockton-on-the-Forest at about 6.40pm.
One of the vehicles overturned and came to rest on its roof.
The cars involved were a green Skoda Octavia and a silver Honda estate.
Later in the evening, on the same stretch of road, a car lost control and ended in a ditch
