MEDIEVAL mirth and merry minstrels await visitors to York's Barley Hall this weekend.
Minstrel group Trouvere are offering entertainment with medieval music and songs, and visitors will be able to try their hand at playing instruments from the Middle Ages. They can also listen to a storyteller tell some very tall tales and have a go at medieval and Tudor dancing.
Visitors to Barley Hall, a medieval townhouse in Coffee Yard off Stonegate, York, are also invited to try on medieval costume and watch leatherworking demonstrations. Admission to the house is £1, with no charge for under-tens.
Trouvere have been the resident band at Barley Hall for four years. They will be presenting their Medieval Merriment evenings at Barley Hall on July 3, July 17, July 31, August 14 and August 28. The concerts begin at 7.30pm and tickets are available by phoning 0772 0118406.
