Selby police were today investigating three car fires which they believe were started deliberately.

Two Ford Escorts, one B-registered and one G-registered, were set on fire, in Castlehill Lane, Drax, just after midnight.

A red Rover car was also written off after going up in flames early today in Brackenhill Lane, Brayton.

Police believe the two incidents could be linked and are investigating the possibility that some form of fuel was used to ignite the fires.

PC George Beattie said they would like to hear from anyone who has information about a dark-coloured Saab car seen in the area around the time of the fires.

Anyone with information should contact Selby police on 01757 702596.
