HORSEBALL, a cross between basketball and rugby played on horseback, will be one of the highlights at Wykeham Country Fair near Scarborough next month.
More than 20 teams from many parts of England will compete in the British Horseball Association's Fourth League Weekend on July 19 and 20, with more than 120 horses and 350 players involved.
Horseball, a sport developed in France about 20 years ago, involved matches between two teams of four players.
The league is divided into four categories: Senior Division 'A', Senior Division 'B', Junior Division and Cadet Division.
A number of the Senior Division A players who will be in action at Wykeham are internationals. Games will start at 9am each day.
Players in the Junior League are aged 16 and under, riding ponies of 4.2 and under.
Cadet Division players are aged between eight and 13.
