GOLFERS raised more than £8,000 for cancer services in York.
The York Against Cancer charity golf day at York Golf Club, Strensall, saw teams from businesses and organisations across the city compete on the greens.
Pat Leveson, fundraising chairman for the charity, said last week's competition confirmed the popularity of the annual sporting event.
She said: "It was a really good day, the weather wasn't bad and everybody had a wonderful time.
"We have raised in excess of £8,000, and it may be even more once all the money comes in. We are very grateful to Norwich Union, who were our main sponsors, and Turnbull Mazda, who also sponsored us.
"We had all sorts of teams from all sectors of the business world from in and around York."
