NINE-year-old Tom Collins (York CC) and Harry Booth (Acomb) put on 39 in an eighth-wicket stand for York Under-11s against Barnsley in the Lord's Taverners Yorkshire Junior Cricket Festival.
But it was not enough to win the day as York were dismissed for 72 chasing Barnsley's 92-6.
Collins, batting at number seven, made 13, with three fours, and Booth, at number eight, scored 23, with four boundaries. York had bowled excellently, but conceded too many extras, 25, and the batting was weak in the middle order.
York U11s play Sheffield at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, June 29, 1.30pm start.
York: J Dale (Acomb, capt), H Booth (Acomb, wkt), M Dale (Acomb), J Fox (York), T Collins (York), B England (Thirsk), J Leaning (Heworth), M Dobson (Heworth), A Sutcliffe (Acomb), C Bilton (Woodhouse Grange), O Stephenson (Scarborough). Reserves: V Audsley (Malton), S Reeves (Woodhouse Grange), J Miller (Woodhouse Grange), W Peet (Heworth).
