COMMUNITY groups across the region have been awarded a cash boost from the National Lottery.
Groups in York, North and East Yorkshire have benefited from awards worth £923,053, from the Awards for All Programme.
The grants will enable the groups to improve their communities through activities including sports, arts and heritage.
Recipients include The York Shakespeare Project, New Earswick Eagles Junior Football Club, Ryedale Sports Club and Selby Tiger Shark Swimming Squad.
Senior awards officer Paula Ritchie, said: "I am delighted to see yet more communities benefiting from our quick and easy application process. Many of the groups awarded have never received any sort of funding before."
