FIREFIGHTERS were called to rescue a man from a house roof in York last night.
A passer-by dialled 999 when the 22-year-old, who has not been named, was seen clinging to a chimney in Stanley Street, off Haxby Road.
Police officers and firefighters arrived at about 11.20pm to find the man distressed and shouting for help.
A fire crew used a long ladder to reach the man on the two-storey house roof and return him to safety.
It was not known how or why he came to be there.
