A YORK man has been remanded in custody following a street fight that left a man in hospital with serious head injuries.
Bradley Neville Bell, 33, of Arran Place, off Dodsworth Avenue, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to John Brooksbank outside an Indian restaurant in Saxon Place, off Dodsworth Avenue, at about 7pm on Saturday.
After an hour-long hearing during which York magistrates heard from prosecutor Nicholas Ralph and defence solicitor Colin Byrne, Bell was remanded in custody and will appear before York Crown Court on Monday.
Mr Brooksbank was initially taken to York Hospital and later transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary. Doctors have since released him but he is expected to return to hospital for an operation.
