A WOMAN has admitted cheating her way to nearly £22,000 in state benefits.
Miranda Dale, 40, of Byland Avenue, York, admitted six charges of benefit fraud, five involving income support, and one involving housing and council tax benefit.
The charges state that she concealed the fact that she shared a bank account with her husband, Stuart Hawkins Dale, 40, from benefit officials between June 14, 1999, and September 9, 2001, and that on July 28, 2000, she deceived officials into thinking she had no partner when she was in reality living with her husband.
York Crown Court heard that she will ask for more similar offences to be taken into consideration when she is sentenced next month. Dale's case was adjourned until July 21 while a probation officer prepares a pre-sentence report, and she was released on bail.
