YORK is one of the venues to be visited as part of a "pilgrimage to Viking places" being undertaken by 33 church choirs from Norway.
The choristers' travels around the UK and Ireland are being made to commemorate the origins of Norwegian Christianity.
The unusual journey started on Friday, and is taking in Orkney, Ireland and Winchester, culminating in a choral service at York Minster on Friday, at 2pm.
This service will be a celebration of the end of the tour, and everybody is welcome to attend. More than 400 singers are making the journey, and hope to uphold the cultural links between Norway and Britain.
Leader of the Bjrgvin Church Choir Association, Olav gaard, said: "Your church music and your fantastic cathedrals will always fascinate us. Therefore we know that this pilgrimage will give us great inspiration. We hope that our visit will give you some inspiration in return."
