ENGINEERING companies throughout the region have stepped in to help rebuild Iraq.
Information is being passed on to companies about potential contracts available as part of rebuilding the war-torn country by Trade Partners UK. But the firm has found it difficult to cope with the demand for details of contracts as well as information about the economic state of Iraq.
Ian Hughes, director of the Engineering Employers' Federation (EEF) Yorkshire and Humberside, said the EEF had helped supply companies in the region with contract details as well as information about agencies who are involved in the rebuilding process.
He said: "Clearly, UK companies have a lot to offer and can play a substantial role in restoring essential infrastructure in Iraq. We want to help ensure that UK companies are well placed to make a full contribution to this essential work."
The EEF has also given contacts to companies who want to donate goods and services to help the extensive re-structuring programme planned for Iraq.
