A TEENAGER suffered a broken leg and a 30-year-old man was knocked unconscious after two separate accidents at a Moped Mayhem event in York.
Ambulance crews were called to Elvington Airfield twice yesterday afternoon to take the injured men to York Hospital.
According to a York police spokesman, a marshal at the event suffered a broken leg when he was involved in a collision with one of the bikes, and a competitor fell off his machine in a separate accident.
An ambulance spokesman said that the 17-year-old was injured just before 1pm, and the 30-year-old man was injured at about 2.45pm.
The Moped Mayhem event - a two-day family event which saw moped enthusiasts camp overnight and compete in races - was one of a series of similar races across the country.
Chris Hudson, of Elvington Events Ltd, which runs the airfield, said the event was organised by the moped organisations and he had not been informed of any accidents.
He said the organisers were providing their own marshals and security.
