STAY focused and let's have more of the same. That was the message from York City Knights player-coach Paul Broadbent to his troops ahead of tomorrow's long trip to Workington Town (3pm kick-off).
The Knights have hit great form to win their last three matches and lift themselves into the National League Two play-off reckoning, and they have improved in every one, culminating in last week's stunning 40-18 demolition of high-flying Hunslet.
Broadbent, though, is demanding his team don't let up as they visit the struggling Cumbrians, who have won just one of their seven league matches.
"I've been hard on them this week trying to make sure everyone is fully focused," he told the Evening Press.
"It's easy to think we're up and running but, as we've seen before, it's very easy to sit back and all of a sudden you are on the slide.
"The guys played very well last week but there were areas in which we can improve. We've got to keep our form and keep our foot on the gas.
"I've said before that it's a very fine line between confidence and complacency and we've got to make sure we're confident not complacent."
Broadbent is unlikely to make any changes to the line-up, although there is an enforced change on the bench where Gavin Molloy is set to come in for fellow winger Rob Kama.
As revealed in yesterday's Evening Press, Kama, who has joined the Knights on trial from York RUFC and made his debut as a substitute at Hunslet last week, has returned briefly to the union club to help their cross-code push for honours in the York International 9s this weekend.
Lee Moreton, whose debut has been put on hold since signing from West Hull ARLC due to a slight knee problem, is another option.
Workington, meanwhile, are looking to settle down after their poor, controversy-ridden start to the campaign.
New coach Billy McGinty, who took over from the departed Paul Penrice last month, might have ex-Swinton and Wigan forward John-Paul Doherty available as he is now in full training with the club, while centre Kevin Hetherington and Brett Smith could return from injury.
He was also hoping to add two amateur half-backs to his squad in time for tomorrow's game.
"They are two very experienced lads who should give us the bite we need around the scrums," said football director David Smith.
Knights (probable): Smith, Godfrey, Hallas, Law, Deakin, Rhodes, Brough, Hayes, Jackson, Forsyth, Cain, Ramsden, Krause, Broadbent, Burland, Callaghan, Molloy.
