AN ACTIVE member of the Clifton community has died aged 92.
Lilian Bramfitt was born and educated at Knaresborough. She moved to York with her husband, Ted, in 1937, where she quickly involved herself with community life in Clifton.
She was a long-serving member of the Women's Institute and Mothers' Union. She also delivered the parish magazine, canvassed for blood donors, and rallied neighbours together to work as a community.
Lilian worshipped at Clifton Parish Church every Sunday and was heavily involved with the church, busying herself with extra duties.
Lilian died on June 5 of a heart condition. She leaves two sons, Fred and John, two daughters, Margaret and Mary, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Fred said: "Mother was always involved with the community. She was quite independent and still looking after herself, baking her own bread and making her own jam. She lived life to the full."
